FEAT gains traction in accelerator

By Parker Burr

Valley Venture Mentors (VVM) is a nonprofit based in Springfield, Massachusetts that provides key support to the entrepreneurial ecosystem through its two programs: Mentorship and Accelerator.

The Accelerator Program will welcome it’s inaugural class in January of 2015.  From a competitive pool of over 120 applicants, a cohort of 30 finalists will be invited into the VVM coworking space and be prepared to seek investment by completing a rigorous training program. Whereas the Mentorship Program centers on connection to a community of experts, the Accelerator Program provides companies with a financial education and the opportunity to win equity-free grants of up to $50,000.  Startups will be competing for prizes totaling $250,000 and be judged based on the Investment Readiness Level, a criterion used by many angel groups to evaluate startups. By completing the program, startups gain the help and expertise they need to secure seed and secondary funding.
